Piemonte (Piedmont) is a region located in the north-west of Italy. Piedmont is, at the same time, a borderland between France, Switzerland and, in the past, the State of Milan and the Republic of Genoa with, in the background, the beautiful Valle D'Aosta with its mountains. This is the territory of the Savoy dynasty, that once included part of the current department of the same name in France.
